Shorinji Kempo is a well balanced martial art, focusing on the unity of the mind and body. Incorporating Zen and physical training Shorinji Kempo can be practiced by young and old alike. The techniques can be used effectively by both men and women as they are based on simple physics and body mechanics, not brute strength.
The heart of Shorinji Kempo practice in compasses three main goals; the forming of a calm and sound mind, a healthy body, and self defense. Students also learn self reliance and the importance of helping one another.
